DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Unique People Services provides a wide range of residential, day, employment, pre-vocation and clinical services to over 100 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We operate certified residential sites that include Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs) and Individualized Supportive Service apartment (ISS). These residences are located throughout the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Through our extensive network of affiliations, additional off-site services are provided based on each individual’s specific needs, including psychiatric, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and nutrition.

PROGRAMS

On-site Psychologists, Behavioral Intervention Specialists, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Nutritionists collaborate with physicians to address any medical or behavioral needs that arise. Our homes provide quality living for our individuals through 24-hour staffing where activities of daily living are taught by qualified Direct Support Professionals staff. Each residence caters to individuals with varying functional abilities, verbal skills, and can accommodate both ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals. All residences provide individuals with opportunities for advancement towards independence, individualization, productivity, and integration into their respective communities.

DAY HABILITATION SERVICES

Unique People Services is recruiting for our Day Habilitation Services (Day Hab) for Individuals with developmental disabilities.

Our Day Habilitation services is a person-centered program which provides individualized support for adults with developmental disabilities.

Our program helps individuals achieve satisfying and rewarding connections and relationships within their communities. Participants explore new areas of interest; develop communication and interpersonal skills; and set and pursue personal goals.

Day services and activities include:

  • Volunteer activities
  • Social skills training
  • Community integration
  • Communication skills development
  • Functional living activities
  • Behavior management
