Housing Opportunities for Persons with HIV/AIDS at Unique People Services
At Unique People Services, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and housing solutions for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS in the Bronx, NY area. Supported by funding from the NYC Human Resources Administration HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HRA/HASA), our program aims to empower individuals to lead fulfilling and independent lives while managing their health needs.
Our Mission
We strive to offer permanent scattered-site housing for formerly homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Through our holistic approach, we aim to help residents stabilize their lives by providing safe and supportive housing environments, access to essential services, and opportunities for community engagement.
Housing and Support Services
Scatter Site Housing Program: Funded by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Public Health Solutions (DOHMH & PHS), our Scatter Site Permanent Housing program provides housing for individuals in need of intensive case management, mental health, substance abuse, and recreational services. Currently, we serve 229 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in scattered-site apartments located throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
HOPWA Program: Our HOPWA (Housing Opportunies for Persons with AIDS) Program supports people living with HIV/AIDS who are not eligible for HASA services. We offer temporary scattered-site housing and support services, connecting individuals to legal aid and other resources to help them become eligible for HASA services and permanent housing. We assist up to 25 people at any given time.
Crown Residence Program: Established in winter 2019, our Crown Residence Program is a 91-unit transitional congregate residence located in the Bronx. We support formerly homeless, healthcare-disconnected individuals by providing stabilizing support services and transitioning them to permanent, independent housing.
2050 Grand Concourse Program: The 2050 Grand Concourse Permanent and Supportive Housing Program in the Bronx provides permanent and supportive housing in an apartment setting to 94 individuals, including a mixed population. This program serves 30 individuals living with HIV/AIDS funded by HASA, 28 individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness funded by OMH, and 36 individuals via an affordable housing model.
