Mental Health Supportive Housing

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

At Unique People Services (UPS), we acknowledge the pivotal role mental health plays in overall well-being. Unfortunately, mental health often encounters misconceptions and stigma in society, affecting not only individuals but also their families and communities. From depression and anxiety to severe conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, mental illness can profoundly impact various aspects of life, including relationships, employment, and self-esteem.

Based in Bronx, New York, UPS is dedicated to confronting these challenges head-on. Through our Community Residence Single Room Occupancy Bronx residences, such as Haven and Hunter Apartments, we offer refuge to 98 previously homeless individuals grappling with mental illness. Here, they receive comprehensive support, including case management, medical and psychiatric monitoring, nutritional guidance, and recreational activities. Our aim is to foster a supportive atmosphere where individuals can regain stability and embark on their path to recovery.

Moreover, UPS operates seven Supported Housing Programs, providing permanent housing to 183 formerly homeless individuals and their families. By offering stable housing alongside ongoing support, we strive to break the cycle of homelessness and empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives.

Our mission extends beyond providing services; we’re committed to challenging the stigma surrounding mental illness and fostering understanding and acceptance in our community. With your backing, we can extend our reach and make a lasting impact on those affected by mental health conditions. Join us in our quest to transform lives and create a brighter future for all.
