Unique People Services Adorno Housing provides permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals from the streets or shelters in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn who suffer from serious mental illness. The staff offers person-centered case planning to individuals willing to participate in services, and they facilitate connections to additional off-site resources. These support services are accessible to all tenants and are designed to help individuals live successfully in the community. With 32 years of experience in supportive housing, UPS ensures the provision of optimal services through well-coordinated staff efforts.
The mission of UPS is to serve holistically and without judgment those who may have been denied compassionate and considerate treatment elsewhere due to their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, developmental level, health status, or history of criminal or substance abuse.
The UPS Adorno Housing Program leases and pays rent directly to landlords for apartments primarily in the Bronx, Upper Manhattan, and Brooklyn using NY State funds. This relieves the financial burden for all 60 tenants struggling to afford housing costs. In turn, tenants pay a program fee/rent to UPS. The Adorno UPS tenants do not use any subsidies, vouchers, or other third-party discounts towards rent payments since the agency covers the full rent amount to the landlord. Since UPS is the leaseholder, only UPS’s name appears on the lease.
The program staff includes four case managers, a clinical supervisor, two maintenance staff members, an entitlements specialist, and the program director. Case managers and the clinical supervisor provide all clinical support, while the entitlements specialist and maintenance staff address benefits issues and minor repairs. The main office contact number is 718-231-7711. The program can be reached by asking for Adorno Housing by name. The program address is 4377 Bronx Boulevard, Suite 203, Bronx, NY.
